Welcome to the website of the ESGLD 2017 Workshop!

The European Study Group on Lysosomal Diseases (ESGLD) promotes collaboration between European research groups interested in basic, translational and/or clinical aspects of lysosomal storage diseases. It includes 90 groups from 22 countries. Every other year, these scientists and clinicians join to share their latest research in a nice, quiet environment favoring personal interactions.

The next ESGLD workshop will be held at Hôtel Valpré (http://www.valpre.com) near Lyon, France, from Sept. 14 to Sept. 17, 2017.

A Graduate Course will be organized there before the Workshop on Sept. 13 and 14.

If you never participated in such meetings, there are three important things you need to know about ESGLD workshops

First, they are held an informal, science focused manner. Participants are encouraged to share their latest research with an open mind. To promote such interactions, oral presentations are selected from submitted abstracts by an external scientific committee, except for a few keynote invited lectures.

Second, these workshops aim to promote interactions between young researchers/students and established researchers. The graduate course provides a forum for young people. On the other hand, oral presentations from PhD students and young researchers (< 35 years of age) represent a good share of the bottom-up scientific programme of the Workshop.

Finally, if your lab is not yet a member of ESGLD but is highly interested in lysosome biology and/or lysosomal diseases, don’t hesitate to join us:

Labs located outside of Europe may apply for an associate membership if they wish to establish long-term links with the ESGLD community.

We hope to see many of you at Hôtel Valpré to build up an exciting workshop and graduate course in September!
